MTBO maraton 2011

The longest individual MTBO race for me - it was about 50 km! The tracks were mostly wide and fast, so the time was 2:16'16''. The course itself wasn't difficult. The map exchanges were tricky because there was 3 different-sized maps. The race was eith mass-start.
The first controls had some route choices in Kuusalu terrain. I made good route choice to the 2nd, so I took an early lead. After that I took my own tempo and let faster riders ahead. Then it was long way to the 7th control with a cut around the houses. At 10th control there was 1st map change to the Raudoja terrain. At 15th control marked route started to the Tõrrepõhja terrain. The course on that terrain was rather easy. Before 21st control I had to take a round because there was some military practice there. Then it was back to the Raudoja terrain. Some route choices were offered with 31st, 32nd and 33rd controls. At 34th control there was a map change but I made it in a bad way becaudse I couldn't see the 35th control on the map. Almost all the way I had moved with Margus V. because we had similar tempo. So I had to trust Margus to take 35th control but on the track crossing before that control he stopped beacuse he had the same problem. I quickly started to fold my map and on the same time Margus saw the control. Then I hurried to the last control and finish ahead of him with 3rd position. It was nice race for the end of 2011 MTBO season.
